Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – ‘The Hidden Gem’

When considering what Disney Resort you will stay at; I often wonder why more guests do not choose Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.  While Disney’s other moderate Resorts are super popular (Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter); I find that Coronado Springs is often overlooked.  Having stayed there 3 times now; I can confidently say that this is a great Disney Resort!  The theme is a tropical retreat combining Mexico and the American Soutwest.

For starters, Coronado Springs is the only moderate resort that offers a Fitness Center

At the same time you can do your laundry!  Don’t roll your eyes, there are plenty of people out there who are ‘addicted to laundry’, I know I am not alone here…

After exerting all of that energy working out; you can take a relaxing dip in the Quiet Pool (this is the pool in ‘Casitas’)

If you prefer a more lively setting you can go over to the ‘Dig Site’ where the main feature pool is a replica of a Mayan Pyramid; there is a slide too!    There is also a huge 12 person hot tub, a playground, kiddie pool and the Iguana Arcade.

When you start getting hungry, grab a bite to eat in the Pepper Market; or if it is dinner time enjoy a sit down dinner at Maya Grill

Convenient and tasty options! Choose from table service at Maya Grill for dinner or Pepper Market for a Quick option, or even fast grab a bite at Cafe Rix

If you find yourself at the Resort in the evening (or day time!); enjoy a cocktail at the Laguna Bar.  You will have a gorgeous view!

If it’s raining or getting very late; mosey on inside to ‘Rix Lounge’ (open til 2am!); they also serve up some nice appetizer selections such as pork sliders or quesadillas (delicious!).  The atmosphere here is sophisticated and relaxing.

When the day is done you can be rest assured that you will be happy in your comfortably appointed room with either 2 queen beds, or 1 king bed, a desk, dresser with flat screen TV, and mini-refrigerator.  The sink/dressing area is separated from the sleeping area by gorgeous sliding wood doors.  The toilet and shower is in a separate room from the sink/dressing area.

There is so much beauty at this resort and so much to do.  If you are active, there is a lake (Lago Dorado) in the middle of the resort that is perfect for runners; is is .9 miles around the lake.   Nothing like an early morning sunrise run, simply gorgeous at this Resort!   You will also find a Volley Ball court by the Dig Site.   So, if you are looking to stay at a different Walt Disney World Resort, for a moderate price and stunning grounds Coronado Springs is a great choice!   This is a convention resort, but don’t let that scare you, the convention folks are locked in a conference room all day, giving you more of the resort to enjoy to yourself!  If you are concerned the Resort is too large, there is an internal bus system that will take you around the Resort.  The little bridge that connects the two sides of the resort (across the lake), does make it easier as far as walking.   This Resort offers preferred rooms that you can book for a few dollars more that will guarantee you a more convenient location.
