Aulani Interview with a Guest of The Magic For Less Travel<\/a><\/p>\n

Our clients at The Magic For Less Travel are so valued and important to us that in true Disney fashion we refer to them as our guests.\u00a0 \u00a0Often our guests become our friends and extended family as we build relationships with them over the years and live vicariously through their Disney Destination vacations.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sometimes our guests\u2019 children grow up and begin to travel themselves with their own families!\u00a0 We love our guests and we truly take their vacations seriously \u2013 as much as we do our own and maybe even a little more.<\/p>\n

So who better to talk about Disney Destination travel than our very own guests of The Magic For Less Travel?!\u00a0 This is the fourth in a series of interviews I conducted with my personal guests who regularly travel to Disney Destinations. \u00a0Look for other interviews with guests who regularly travel with other Disney Destinations!<\/p>\n

Let’s talk with Cheri Gardner from Teaxs about her Aulani Resort experiences!<\/p>\n

Tell me about your first Aulani trip \u2013 what hooked you?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We had never been to Hawaii before, and we were so excited to do it with Disney because we\u2019ve had so much success with the kids loving Walt Disney World, Disneyland and our Adventures by Disney trips.\u00a0 We knew we\u2019d be able to explore Hawaii but stay with Disney and be immersed in Disney Magic.<\/p>\n

We absolutely fell in love with the resort.\u00a0 We had a 2 bedroom villa with a full kitchen and two baths.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t\u2019 cook, but we had some light foods for breakfast and lunch and really used the room to it\u2019s full capacity.\u00a0 We had laundry facilities even so we could wash clothes in the evening and dry out wet swim attire!\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why, but we were so surprised by the amenities of Aulani \u2013 from big touches to little.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fun for all ages \u2013 we can hang out at the beach, do the lazy river, swim in the ocean, do the waterslides.\u00a0 The kid\u2019s center Aunty\u2019s Beach House is so phenomenal! \u00a0\u00a0My boys loved\u00a0 the Animator\u2019s class.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What keeps you going back?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The resort!\u00a0 We get to stay in the middle of the magic while we are in paradise.\u00a0 There are so many activities geared to all ages.\u00a0 On our 2nd<\/sup> trip we spent more time resort based because it is so glorious and awesome.\u00a0 We typically spent a day at the resort and then a day doing an excursion on our first trip but we loved just spending time at Aulani.\u00a0 It\u2019s so beautiful and so peaceful!<\/p>\n

What is your favorite Aulani memory?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

One of my sons had a birthday while we were at Aulani, and we gave him surf lessons as a present for the trip.\u00a0 Watching him do that his first time in Hawaii was priceless!\u00a0 He actually got up several times!\u00a0 \u00a0It was a Disney affiliated excursion and the guides were so great with the kids.\u00a0 They were also certified so we felt so safe!<\/p>\n

In terms of excursions, Pearl Harbor was surprisingly our favorite.\u00a0 It was so moving and emotional.\u00a0 We loved that we booked it through Aulani as we were picked up from the resort, they had our tickets, and \u00a0we didn\u2019t wait in any lines.\u00a0 It was so convenient to be picked up and driven to and from.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What is your favorite activity that you always do\/tradition on Aulani?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We love staying at Aulani for a day and then spend a day exploring.\u00a0 It is a great balance!<\/p>\n

By far, though, Aulani has the best spa, Laniwai, that I\u2019ve ever been to \u00a0in my entire life \u2013 I have made many trips on our subsequent visits!\u00a0 It\u2019s heavenly and I\u2019ll always make this a tradition on future trips, preferably several times during!<\/p>\n

How do you define Disney magic at Aulani?\u00a0 <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Well compared to the Disney theme parks, the magic is a bit more subtle, but not less any less magical.\u00a0 You can still meet your favorite characters who show up at the pool even to hang out with you!\u00a0 But to \u00a0me you get the fabulous service you know with Disney.\u00a0 I would say that especially in the kid\u2019s areas, as \u00a0they\u2019re constantly doing activities with the kids.\u00a0 It\u2019s Disney nirvana for kids!\u00a0 There is an animation class \u2013 so many tie ins to Moana currently (my kids made boats that they were able to then race). \u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0 Aulani Cast Members make it magical \u2013 they have a pure Disney touch.\u00a0 So it\u2019s the service and care that gives Aulani so much of the magic.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What is the value of Disney Aulani over another Hawaiian resort?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

To me the value there is because there is so much to do, but if you have younger kids it is the place to be. \u00a0So many activities for kids come with Aulani.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0No one does that better than Disney.<\/p>\n

There is so much to do or so little to do at Aulani.\u00a0 \u00a0It\u2019s so very, very Hawaiian.\u00a0 You absolutely know you\u2019re in Hawaii.\u00a0 Oahu is a\u00a0 so fast paced in other areas such as Waikiki.\u00a0 It\u2019s built up, it\u2019s urban and it\u2019s so crowded.\u00a0 Aulani is at a much slower pace.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And the luau, KA WA\u2019A, and the Hawaiian shave ice are just as good at Aulani as they are at other places – you don\u2019t need to leave the property to experience Hawaii and have fun!<\/p>\n

What are you looking forward to most on next Aulani trip?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Besides the spa?!\u00a0 LOL!<\/p>\n

The variety of things to do is what we look forward to!\u00a0 The kids love the pools, the slides and did I mention the shave ice?!<\/p>\n

When we were leaving Aulani this time and heading to the airport, one of my children suggested we visited a different island on our next Hawaiian visit.\u00a0 But how could we skip Aulani?!\u00a0 It devastated us to think about that!<\/p>\n

The food, the paddle boarding, the beach area, which is a lagoon with gentle waves and the sand is so pristine and clean.\u00a0 It\u2019s just the most the relaxing place on earth with tons of activities at your fingertips.<\/p>\n

What has been your favorite excursion at Aulani?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Besides Pearl Harbor (mentioned above), we all loved the luau.\u00a0 I also loved the catamaran trip and zip lining \u00a0– all done through Disney!\u00a0 It\u2019s so easy peesy to see different parts of the island.\u00a0 They\u2019re all my favorite!<\/p>\n

What has been your favorite meal at Aulani? <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Ama \u2019Ama, we\u2019ve done it on both trips and it is amazing.\u00a0 Reserve a dining time at sunset.\u00a0 It is absolutely gorgeous and the food is great!\u00a0 Don\u2019t miss it.<\/p>\n

Why do you use The Magic For Less Travel?\u00a0 What is the benefit?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

You always get the answers to all of my millions and millions of questions!\u00a0\u00a0 You will always take care of the details and book the excursions for me.\u00a0 You\u2019re meticulous with your planning and you care about it like it was your own trip.\u00a0 It is always more beneficial as you\u2019ll find the promotions we may not even know about.\u00a0 You found a promotion with a free rental car day and free breakfast for us on this last Aulani vacation.\u00a0 Who knew?!\u00a0 \u00a0You make it so easy for us and I trust implicitly that you are always \u00a0looking out for us. I\u2019d never do a trip without your assistance!<\/p>\n

Best advice for a new Aulani traveler?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Check out the spa in case I didn\u2019t mention it already!<\/p>\n

If you have kids younger than 10 check out Aunty\u2019s Beach House.\u00a0 You can pre-register your child before you go and you\u2019ll want to do so as it fills up quickly!\u00a0\u00a0 Plan on going to Pearl Harbor for your first trip as a day away from the resort.<\/p>\n

Who is your favorite Disney character?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

I am going to say Rapunzel!\u00a0 She is spunky and fun, and she didn\u2019t always need someone to help her make it through life.\u00a0\u00a0 She\u2019s independent and she reminds me of my daughter.<\/p>\n

Do you have any other comments about Aulani?\u00a0 <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Sit back, relax, have a fun fruity drink on the beach.\u00a0 It\u2019s beautiful and you will fall in love with Disney in a whole new way.<\/p>\n

Steve grew up in a Disney family, as his parents lived near Disneyland when he was born. He began vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort when he was eight years old. Steve is an Advanced Graduate of the College of Disney Knowledge and is a Walt Disney World Resort annual passholder and a Disneyland Resort Magic Key holder. He has visited Walt Disney World and Disneyland hundreds of times. Steve is a Platinum Castaway Cay Club member with Disney Cruise Line and has sailed dozens of times on each of the 5 Disney Cruise Line ships to destinations in the Bahamas, Caribbean, Alaska and Europe. He has also traveled internationally with Adventures by Disney. Steve is an Advanced Graduate of the College of Disney Knowledge. He also carries a Universal Studios Specialist designation and is an Annual Passholder with the Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood Resorts. He is also certified with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and has sailed dozens of times on RCCL as well as other cruise lines. Steve has a work hard, play hard mentality and has a strong passion to assist his clients to make the most of their valuable vacation time and dollars.
