Someone who\u2019s never been may have no idea what Disney World is all about. A friend recently said to me, \u201cI don\u2019t like amusement parks.\u201d My response was that Disney is the best of the best when it comes to entertainment. Their theme parks are no exception!<\/p>\n<p>Recently, my wife and I had the opportunity to take our oldest daughter and her family to Walt Disney World in Florida.\u00a0 Of the four of them, three were \u201cnewbies\u201d, having never been to any Disney theme park. *We took our oldest grandson a couple years ago and he was anxious to show his family how great Disney World is!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15467\" title=\"The whole family!\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/tmflblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/all-of-us-disney-resize.jpg\" alt=\"Taking &quot;Newbies&quot; to Disney World\" width=\"451\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/tmflblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/all-of-us-disney-resize.jpg 451w, https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/tmflblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/all-of-us-disney-resize-150x105.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/disney-vacations\/walt-disney-world\/my-disney-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">planning<\/a>, I knew I had to approach this trip differently than when it&#8217;s just the two of us.\u00a0\u00a0We\u00a0have been going to Disney World for 30 years and now go at least twice a year.\u00a0 As the years have gone by,\u00a0the way we vacation\u00a0at Disney has changed.\u00a0 Running from attraction to attraction is no longer the way we tour.\u00a0 We make our 3 fastpasses per day, maybe\u00a0experience a few\u00a0attractions with\u00a0low wait times, enjoy a table service meal and whatever nighttime spectacular is scheduled.\u00a0 And shopping&#8230;lots of shopping!\u00a0 Basically, we just\u00a0soak up\u00a0the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>Taking &#8220;newbies&#8221; required me to think old-school, if you will.\u00a0 *\u201dNewbie\u201d is just a slang word for a first-timer. In addition, we only had 4.5 days in the parks.\u00a0 Disney veterans know the Magic Kingdom and Epcot both take 2 days each, to tour effectively.\u00a0 Plus, no one wants to miss Animal Kingdom park these days, with the new and amazing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themouseforless.com\/?s=pandora\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pandora<\/a>.\u00a0 Even the Disney Studios were important, as attractions like Toy Story Midway Mania and Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Roller Coaster are must do&#8217;s.\u00a0I had to make some tough choices. I kept asking myself, \u201cHow can I show them a great time, see as much as possible and not wear us all to a frazzle?\u201d Here are three things I considered beforehand, all of which are just plain common sense.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>I planned out our days<\/strong>, allowing for any possible changes that might come up. As I look back, we created many special memories with our kids and grandkids. I thoroughly enjoyed showing my newbie son-in-law around Disney. I knew he had a good time when he kept saying how incredible everything was and what his favorite things were each day. We were able to do most of what I originally planned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>One thing I\u2019ve learned over the years is to <strong>be<\/strong> <strong>flexible<\/strong>. Disney World is an exhausting vacation (when can we go back, haha!?!). Sometimes weather affects your day or a ride breaks down or your child has a meltdown. In that case, you just have to step back and punt, for the overall sake of the group.<\/li>\n<li>To be fair, there were some <strong>minor setbacks<\/strong>. Test Track shut down while we were in line, due to weather. We skipped Splash Mountain due to sheer exhaustion. Pirates was closed for refurbishments. We did not get to enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival as much as I wanted. Weather did not permit us to enjoy the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/disney-vacations\/walt-disney-world\/resorts\/pop-century-resort\/\">Pop Century<\/a> pools as much as I had hoped.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15466\" title=\"Talking Mickey\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/tmflblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/hudson-disney-resize.jpg\" alt=\"Taking &quot;Newbies&quot; to Disney World\" width=\"270\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/tmflblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/hudson-disney-resize.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.themagicforless.com\/tmflblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/hudson-disney-resize-84x150.jpg 84w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the end though, I wouldn\u2019t trade our experiences for the world. We had a great time and everyone, newbies included, gained a new appreciation for \u201cThe Most Magical Place on Earth\u201d!
