\"\"Finding the right souvenir is always a fun part of my vacation.\u00a0 I want something that will bring about great memories of my trip while I\u2019m at home.\u00a0 While I do enjoy a special t-shirt or pair of sparkly mouse ears, they usually go in a drawer or get packed away until my next trip.<\/p>\n

In Epcot<\/a> in the Land Pavilion to the left of the entrance of Soarin\u2019 there\u2019s a small shop that sells souvenirs, across from that is the desk to sign up for Behind the Seeds Tour.\u00a0 Both these areas sell \u201cMickey\u2019s Mini Garden\u201d plants.\u00a0 They are located on a small display that you might miss if you aren\u2019t looking carefully.\u00a0 This plant tissue culture comes from the regeneration of cells from a parent plant located in the Land greenhouse.<\/p>\n

The plants are tiny, about 1-2\u201d tall and are in sealed glass jars which are in a colorful box.\u00a0 The plants are growing in a gel medium and do not need to be watered.<\/p>\n

The first time I brought one of these plants home I was so excited to plant it!\u00a0 I read the directions and planted them!\u00a0 It died pretty quickly.\u00a0 I was very disappointed and I figured the plant wasn\u2019t strong enough after traveling so far home.\u00a0 On my next trip, my husband & I took the \u201cBehind the Seeds Tour\u201d and we noticed them growing in the lab.\u00a0 I told the tour guide about my disappointment with my plant.\u00a0 She told me to keep it in the jar as long as possible.\u00a0 The gel medium is all it needs!<\/p>\n

Dragon Fruit and Banana plants<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On that trip, I bought a banana plant and a dragon fruit.\u00a0 When I got home I left it in the jar for close to 6 months.\u00a0 It grew beautifully and was close to the top of the jar when I decided to plant it.\u00a0 A year later they are doing great.\u00a0 I\u2019ve added three more to my collection- prickly pear, vanilla & kalanchoe which is all thriving in their jars.<\/p>\n

This is the souvenir that keeps on giving!\u00a0 They are relatively easy to grow. One plant I would avoid is the Venus flytrap.\u00a0 It\u2019s a fun one to have but really hard to keep alive!<\/p>\n
