When visiting the Disneyland Resort<\/a> in Anaheim, California it\u2019s almost inevitable to make a comparison to Walt Disney World.\u00a0 Many attractions are duplicated from coast to coast, but more than often there are some differences – big and small – between the Florida and Southern California counterparts.<\/p>\n

One such subtle difference between coast to coast attractions lies with Fantasyland \u2018s \u201cIt\u2019s a Small World\u201d at Disneyland Park.\u00a0 While the classic Sherman Brothers’ song and the Blaine Gibson dolls are a constant, Disney has embedded nearly three dozen of the classic and modern Disney characters into the attraction in a refurbishment that occurred in 2008.\u00a0 It\u2019s a delicate, subtle infusion so as not to take away from the beloved original attraction. \u00a0It adds a wonderful Disney touch with the characters placed strategically in the either the countries they are from or the area they best represent.<\/p>\n

As you pass through the attraction you’ll first notice Peter Pan and Tinker Bell in England flying overhead soon followed byAlice and The White Rabbit.<\/p>\n

Cinderella with her mice friends Jaq and Gua are up next in France and note she’s in her work clothes, not her ball gown:<\/p>\n

Pinocchio (strings and all) will greet you in Italy:<\/p>\n

In the Middle East you’ll find Aladdin and Jasmine (and Abu!) flying overhead on the magic carpet. \u00a0You can almost hear them singing “A Whole New World” over the iconic attraction score:<\/p>\n

Mulan and her guardian dragon sidekick, Mushu, make an appearance in China – although you won’t find Shan Yu trying to spoil the fun:<\/p>\n

Simba and Pumba (and also Timon) can be found just waiting to be King in the African themed room:<\/p>\n

Donald, Panchito and Jose Carioca greet your boat in Mexico:<\/p>\n

As you enter the South Seas you’ll find Ariel in her\u00a0clam shell:<\/p>\n

‘Ohana! \u00a0You’ll also find Lilo and Stitch surfing:<\/p>\n

And as the attraction ends its run in North America you’ll find the Toy Story favorites Woody, Jessie and Bullseye:<\/p>\n

What a wonderful addition and a nice change these additions are to this attraction. \u00a0 Be on the lookout for them next time you ride the Southern California version. \u00a0I know Walt would love it!<\/p>\n

Steve is a Platinum Castaway Cay Club member with Disney Cruise Line and has sailed dozens of times on each of the 5 Disney Cruise Line ships to destinations in the Bahamas, Caribbean, Alaska and Europe. He has also traveled internationally with Adventures by Disney. Steve is an Advanced Graduate of the College of Disney Knowledge. He also carries a Universal Studios Specialist designation and is an Annual Passholder with the Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood Resorts. He is also certified with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and has sailed dozens of times on RCCL as well as other cruise lines. Steve has a work hard, play hard mentality and has a strong passion to assist his clients to make the most of their valuable vacation time and dollars.
