There is no denying that the Despicable Me movies and characters are popular these days and with the recent DVD release of the second movie, kids and adults alike all want to be part of the \u201cminion mayhem!\u201d\u00a0 There isn\u2019t a better way to be a part of the fun than by staying in a special themed Despicable Me Kid Suite at Universal Orlando\u2019s Portofino Bay Hotel!\u00a0 I recently had the opportunity to visit one of these new themed rooms and was impressed with the layout and d\u00e9cor in both the adult part of the room and the kid\u2019s room.<\/p>\n

Room 1444 at the Portofino Bay Hotel is one of the very popular Kid Suite rooms.\u00a0 These rooms do book up during the more popular times of the year so if it is something that you would like to experience, I suggest booking as far out as possible.\u00a0 Contact a travel consultant at the Magic For Less Travel at www.themagicforless.com<\/a> and we can put together a package for you!.\u00a0 Don\u2019t forget that when you stay at a Universal Resort hotel you can skip the lines with the Unlimited Express Pass which is a free benefit worth up to $89 per person per day! When entering the Despicable Me Kid Suite room, the first thing you will notice is that there is a distinct lack of minions!\u00a0 The adult section of the room is nicely outfitted with a king size bed, full bathroom, flat screen television and more.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t until you notice the connecting door that the mayhem begins!<\/p>\n

Adult area is “Minion-less”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Inside the connecting Minion room you will find two twin size Rocket beds complete with minion sheets and pillows.\u00a0 The beds are intended for one person, but two smaller children could easily share a bed if you have more than two children in the room with you (maximum of 5 people in a kid suite).\u00a0 One of the features that I liked about the room was that the children would have to go through the adult part of the room to get out.\u00a0 That means no sneaking out in the middle of the night!\u00a0 The only possible downside of this room is that the only access to the bathroom is also through the adult part of the room.\u00a0 I think that once your kids see the room, the theming itself will outweigh this negative feature.<\/p>\n

The Portofino Bay Hotel is a Deluxe 4 Diamond Hotel.\u00a0 When staying here or at one of the other onsite hotels you will have access to many benefits including early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, multiple full service dining locations with priority seating, easy walking distance to the parks or a short water taxi ride, resort wide charging, merchandise delivery to your room, and more!\u00a0 Portofino Bay has three themed pools, one of which is a zero entry pool complete with water slide!\u00a0 Mandera Spa is located at this hotel and offers a full service spa experience and fitness center.\u00a0 If you want a break from the kids for a few hours, that\u2019s okay because Camp Portofino is located right at the hotel. (reservations required).<\/p>\n
