A Review of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort

There is something special about walking in the front entrance of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. I automatically feel happy, energized, and ready to begin my vacation. It hits all five senses with an amazing aroma, upbeat jazz music from the 1920’s and 30’s, beautiful views of the boardwalk outside, delicious dining right out the back doors, and comfortable sofas and rocking chairs calling you to relax. The only thing I don’t like … it took me way too long to decide to stay here! As soon as I did, it become one of my top resort choices.

Resort Room Types

The rooms at The BoardWalk Inn have recently been renovated and I absolutely love the new decor. The little Disney touches throughout the rooms and the resort itself are subtle, yet adorable.  The whole resort feels clean, fresh, and cozy.

Capacity

Most rooms at this resort will accommodate at least four adults. Standard rooms will have either one King bed, two Queen Beds, or the addition of a day bed. All of the rooms include a patio or balcony, which is one of my personal favorite reasons to stay in a deluxe resort such as this one.

Views

Your view can be a “resort view” of the gardens or parking area. You can also upgrade to a water view, which honestly takes the entire vacation to a new level. Sitting on the balcony and overlooking Crescent Lake with your morning coffee or late night cocktail makes you feel like you have really reached the peak of your vacation.

Concierge

You can also choose from club-level rooms that include access to the Innkeeper’s Club. These rooms vary from one standard room with a King or two Queens to two-bedroom suites, to the Sonora VP Suite.

Dining Options

Signature Dining

In my opinion, The BoardWalk Inn has the best variety of dining options out of all the Disney Resorts. The signature dining option of Flying Fish includes one of the best meals I have had on property. It was the Ash-crusted Salmon with herbed risotto, vegetables, and shellfish nage. I could not get enough of this dish! Flying Fish also includes delectable appetizers, seafood, steak, & poultry entrees, and an assortment of desserts.

Table Service Dining

Trattoria al Forno is another table-service dining option that is open for both breakfast and dinner. It is equally delicious for both. The pancakes at breakfast melt in your mouth, and the Italian dishes at dinner are filling and crowd-pleasing. The truffle gnocchi is one that I order frequently.

The newest table service option is The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rodgers. Don’t let the name fool you … desserts are definitely on the menu, but you can choose from scrumptious soups, salads, and entrees as well. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even if you don’t dine here, be sure to pop your head in the door to see the incredible décor and theming. It makes you feel like you are a prince or princess ready for high tea. If you have trouble getting a reservation on the My Disney Experience app, try Open Table!

Quick Service Dining

If you are looking for more of a quick service meal or snack, The BoardWalk Inn has numerous options: BoardWalk Deli, Carousel Coffee, BoardWalk Ice Cream (I recommend the Thundering Surf Sundae!),  the Pizza Window, Leaping Horse Libations at the pool, Funnel Cake Art, and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs.

You’ve also got fun venues to order a cocktail … Belle Vue Lounge, BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas, and AbracadaBar.

Recreation

This resort lives up to it’s name in making you feel like you are on a vacation with the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk nearby. Picture nighttime entertainment of circus-type performers, surrey bike rentals, and shopping. There is a spa & fitness center, playground, arcade, jogging paths, tennis courts, pickleball courts, fishing, campfire activities, and movies under the stars. Just a stone’s throw away, you can also play mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens.

Lastly, the whole family will enjoy the pools! You’ve got the Luna Park Pool which is carnival themed. It has a 200-foot long waterslide, a whirlpool spa, a kiddie pool, and splash pad. Leaping Horse Libations has sandwiches, drinks, and more. You also have two leisure pools to choose from that have a more tranquil and relaxing feel. During the day time, guests can enjoy themed pool games, relays, trivia and more.

Transportation

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has my favorite form of transportation right next door – the Disney Skyliner! This is such a fun and quick way to travel throughout the Disney resort. You can ride the Skyliner just for fun, take it to a nearby resort, or even take it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park.

You are walking distance to Epcot, which is fabulous! You can also walk to Disney’s Hollywood Studios if you choose. You’ve also got the option to take the Friendship Boats to both of these parks.

Buses will take you to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. You can also opt to order a Minnie Van!

This resort is so convenient to everything!

Other Items to Note

Another perk of staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is the fact that it is so close to other resorts. You can walk over to Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts. You can also visit The Swan and Dolphin Resorts. This opens up so many different dining options and activities close by.

This resort does have mail services, as well as laundry and dry cleaning services.

You will also find an events guide printed out each week that offers fun for the whole family. Maybe join in on a yoga class overlooking the lake, design tie-dye t-shirts, or put on your dancing shoes for a night at Atlantic Dance Hall.

Boardwalk Inn is a great option for families, couples, or even a friends’ trip. There is something for every age and interest!
