Rides with No Height Requirement at Universal Orlando Resort
Whether you have small children, or you are all grown up and just not a fan of thrill rides, you may be wondering, “what can I do at Universal Parks that doesn’t require a height limit?” The good news is that there are plenty of things to do at Universal, even if you are looking for a gentler way to spend the day. Some areas I would recommend spending some time are exploring Dreamworks Land at Universal Studios, and Dr. Seuss Landing in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Here are some of the rides and activities you can explore that will make your trip if you are looking for a more chill and less thrill day.
Universal Studios
Rides with no Height Requirement

Hogwarts Express-Kings Cross Station
Board at the King’s Cross Station in the Diagon Alley and ride the Hogwart’s Express to the Hogsmeade Station at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. While on the train, guests are treated to a story-driven experience with film scenes and magical effects viewed through the cabin windows and corridors. NOTE: You must have a Park-To-Park Ticket to experience this attraction.
Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl
This ride located in Springfield, U.S.A.: Home of the Simpsons, is a gentle spinner ride where guests pilot flying saucers, controlling their height while aiming lasers at spinning targets of Simpsons characters.
Illumination’s Villian-Con Minion Blast
This interactive attraction is located in the Minion Land area of Universal Studios. Guests stand on a moving walkway and use a blaster to shoot targets on the screen with gadgets like freeze-rays and bananas. Note: The blasters weigh around 4 pounds, but you can request a lighter version for younger kids by asking a Team Member.
Rides for Guests 34 Inches and Under
E.T. Adventure
Located in the Hollywood section of the park, guests board a ride vehicle made to look like flying bikes and ride through the forest to help E.T. escape. You feel like you are riding through an actual movie set, with a heartwarming ending. Note – riders under 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Play Area
DreamWorks Land
If you are a child at Universal Studios Orlando, DreamWorks Land is not to be missed! In this area, which opened in 2024, young guests can have a blast burning off some energy! Play areas include Shrek’s Swamp for Little Ogres, King Harold’s Swamp Symphony, Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp, Mama Luna Feline Fiesta, and other play elements throughout the area. Guests can also experience Po Live! – an interactive digital activity, watch Dreamworks Imagination Celebration, and ride the Trolls Trollercoaster. And don’t miss the meet and greets! Visitors can meet Shrek, Fiona and Donkey at Shrek’s Swamp, as well as meet Trolls at the Trolls Village, as well as other Dreamworks characters throughout the area.
Other activities with no height requirements at Universal Studios include watching shows such as Animal Actors on Location and The Bourne Stunt Spectacular, meeting many more characters throughout the park, watching the Universal Mega Movie Parade (seasonally), and watching CineSational: Symphonic Spectacular – the awesome nighttime show featuring dancing fountains, projected scenes, lasers, fireworks, and drones! Another fun thing to do is to explore all of the nooks and crannies of Diagon Alley while trying magic with interactive wands. My family spent hours doing this!
Universal Islands of Adventure
No Height Requirement
Hogwart’s Express – Hogsmeade Station
This is the same ride as the previously mentioned ride at Universal Studios, however with a completely different story experienced through the film scenes and magical effects viewed through the cabin windows and corridors. NOTE: You must have a Park-To-Park Ticket to experience this attraction.

In the Seuss Landing area of Islands of Adventure is an adorable carousel filled with whimsical Dr. Seuss characters to ride. Guests can make their character’s eyes blink, ears wiggle and ears turn by pulling on the reins or pushing a lever!

All of these require a supervising companion.
The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride
This adorable train takes you on one of two tracks above the colorful buildings and rides of Seuss Landing. One track continues the story of the Sneetches, while the other takes you on an ABC journey of a selection of Seuss stories. My favorite part was getting a bird’s eye view of the Circus McGurkus Cafe!
The Cat in the Hat Ride
Hop on a couch-shaped ride vehicle, and cruise through a retelling of the beloved Cat in the Hat story, complete with eighteen scenes including favorite characters the anxious fish, Thing 1 & Thing 2, and of course the Cat in the Hat himself!

This fun family-friendly coaster takes you past and Aniatronic Hipogriff (don’t forget to bow!), past Hagrid’s Hut, and through a pumpkin patch.

In Islands of Adventure , you can meet characters, visit play areas (Me Ship, The Olive, If I Ran the Zoo, and Camp Jurassic.) and the Oh! The Stories You’ll Hear Show in Suess Landing. Also, don’t forget to explore Hogsmeade with your interactive wands and to catch the Hogwarts Forever show projected on the side of the Hogwarts Castle at night. You can even watch the Frog Choir throughout the day on the Hogsmeade stage!
Epic Universe

Constellation Carousel
I love a good carousel, and this one is my new favorite! Guests can ride celestial lions, dragons, peacocks and more! The creatures rotate in a circle as well as move along a unique track on the carousel, giving the feeling that the animals are whirling, twirling and gliding to the music. The music and beauty of this carousel is amazing in the daylight, and even more beautiful at night!
Fyre Drill
Located in the How to Train Your Dragon, Isle of Berk area, this ride is perfect for a hot day! Board your Viking ship and battle it out with other ships as well as flame-like targets to soak everything else before you are soaked yourself!

Yoshi’s Adventure
This bright and cheerful ride takes you through iconic Mushroom Kingdom Landscapes while you search for hidden colored eggs and see favorite characters.

Shows
There are two amazing shows at Epic Universe, perfect for all ages! One is The Untrainable Dragon in the How to Train Your Dragon Land of Epic Universe. It is an action-filled, musical stage show with lots of action with the Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid and Gobber characters. It features massive, highly advanced puppets and animatronics, and was just a joy to watch!
The other main show at Epic Universe is Le Cirque Arcanus. It is a spectacular live theatrical show filled with aerialists, puppetry, and dazzling special effects. The story centers on circus ringmaster Skender and his scheme to steal Newt Scamander’s magical suitcase.
Don’t forget to save time to explore Super Mario Land and collect coins using the Power-Up Bands. Guests can interact with blocks, games and other activities throughout the land!
As you can see, you don’t have to be a thrill-seeker to have an amazing day at Universal Orlando Resort! From whimsical rides and interactive play areas to spectacular shows and immersive lands, there are plenty of experiences the whole family can enjoy together.
