The Disney Wish is Accessible for Everyone!

The Disney Cruise Line is committed to providing a magical and accessible experience for all guests.  Each of their cruise ships have different layouts and features, but they continue to learn and adjust with every ship to create the best experience possible for guests with disabilities.  The Disney Wish makes cruising even more accessible than ever before!  Here are some tips to make sure you are prepared to make your cruise a success.

Communication During Planning is Key!

  • Let your travel agent know your needs when booking your stateroom. Disney has staterooms that are wheelchair accessible.  Disney will also provide special equipment like bedrails, raised toilet seats, or stateroom communication kits for guests with hearing disabilities.

 Wheelchair Accessible Staterooms

For guests traveling with wheelchairs, an accessible stateroom is important as most wheelchairs or scooters will not fit into traditional staterooms and cannot be stored elsewhere.

  • Wheelchair accessible staterooms have wider doorways and pathways.
  • Accessible bathrooms do not have a raised threshold and or the typical split bathroom design found in many of their staterooms. Instead, you will have one large, open space with grab bars and a roll-in shower.  There is a handheld showerhead, linear floor drains, and a fold down shower seat.
  • In staterooms with a verandah, there will be a ramp to allow chairs to roll onto the balcony.

Accessibility and Public Spaces on The Disney Wish

  • Main Dining – All restaurants are accessible for wheelchairs. Servers are happy to remove a chair to allow space for guests to dine in their wheelchair.
  • Marceline Market Buffet – Cast Members are happy to carry a tray or move a chair for guests.
  • Room Service – Keep in mind that room service is available 24 hours a day and is complimentary. If a guest finds in room dining easier than navigating a buffet, this is a fantastic option.
  • On Deck Dining- Cast Members will assist guests and bring food out to a table.
  • Theaters – There is accessible seating in all theater venues onboard.
  • Public Bathrooms – There are accessible public bathrooms with lowered sinks throughout the ship.
  • Doorways – Touchless entry is helpful for all guests, but especially those using a wheelchair.
  • Pool Lifts – Lifts are available, but must be arranged via the form above through Special Services.
  • Entertainment – There are designated on-deck viewing areas for those in wheelchairs or anyone needing a ASL interpreter.
  • Boarding and Disembarking – There are ramps to help guests enter and exit the ship.
  • NOTE – Not all elevators go past Deck 11. This makes it tricky to get to the Quiet Cove area, etc., so pay attention to the elevators that you use to ensure they go to the floor you need to access.
