Disney Dining Review: Toledo-Tapas, Steak, & Seafood

Toledo – Tapas, Steak, & Seafood is a fantastic Disney dining option located at Disney’s Coronado Springs.  This beautiful Spanish influenced restaurant opened on July 9, 2019. It sits atop the Gran Destino Tower on the 16th floor.  This position gives it a bird’s eye view of Walt Disney World.  If you time your visit correctly, you have some great potential to see Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios fireworks.  Pro tip:  Ask for a seat by the window.

Getting there

From any of Walt Disney World’s theme parks, water parks, or Disney Springs you can take Disney bus transportation to Coronado Springs.  For those driving, follow signs to Coronado Springs.  Self-parking is available just outside the Gran Destino tower for free for guests with a Disney dining reservation at Toledo.  Valet is also available for a fee.  Remember to bring a photo ID and reservation information if you have it as you will pass through the resort security checkpoint prior to entering the parking area.

Gran Destino Tower

After parking, proceed into the Gran Destino tower and elevators are found to your left.  They are automated and you push which floor you want on a touch screen (16), and the screen will tell you which elevator to proceed to (A, B, C, D).  Proceed to the 16th floor and Toledo is on your left and the Dahlia lounge on your right.  If you arrive early check out the Dahlia lounge.  It has sweeping views of Disney property and a great balcony.

Inside the restaurant

The restaurant is lovely with slate-colored floors, a gorgeous ceiling that changes from orange to pink to red, and a visible kitchen prep station.  There are tables by the windows and table/booth combinations towards the center of the room.

Drinks

Toledo offers a full-service bar and an excellent wine list.  One of the signature drink offerings is the Gran Gin and Tonic made with Fords Gin, House-made Saffron-Orange Tonic, and Soda Water.  For those who enjoy sangria, Toledo serves a red and white variety, plus a play on classic Sangria, the Sangria-tini which is made with vodka, Garnacha wine, peach liqueur, and lime.  The wine list is primarily focused on Spanish wines, but you will also find some well-known wines from around the world.

The Chef’s Signature Menu

Toledo is a primarily a la carte menu where you can choose what you want to order, but they also have a tasting menu, which they call the Chef’s Signature Dinner for Two.  This menu is priced at $155 per person and features four courses.  The first course is a flight of our pintxos including chilled mussels, olive oil poached tuna, a Spanish potato omelet, and blue cheese with fig and honey.  The second course is one of the restaurant’s signature items, The Spaniard, an artisanal cheese, and charcuterie board.  For the entrée, guests may choose between the seafood paella, or bone-in ribeye.  Finally, guests receive the Toledo Tapas Bar dessert which includes Spanish coffee, crunchy chocolate, raspberry mousse, and lemon curd.

The Ala Carte Menu

For those who opt to dine a la carte, Toledo has something for everyone.  Our favorite item is the signature cheese and charcuterie board, The Spaniard.  We have ordered this item every time we dine here.  It offers a variety of cheeses and meats, not easily found elsewhere.  The Iberico ham and Manchego cheese are standouts for us.  For tapas, the chorizo and octopus reminded us of dishes we have enjoyed in Spain.  Finally, there are numerous vegetarian options including pan con tomate and gazpacho.

On our most recent visit we enjoyed the Marinated Grilled Lamb Loin.  This was accompanied by  potatoes, salsa verde, greens, and blistered peppers.  The potatoes had great flavor, and the lamb was cooked perfectly.  The salsa verde added a nice hint of acid to the richness of the meat and potatoes.

Finally, Toledo offers a delightful selection of desserts including classic Catalan crème, a chocolate ganache tart and their tapas bar dessert which features a tasting of several dessert items.  Our family’s favorite is the Orange Flancocho, which is a cream cheese flan, with orange cake, whipped cream, and Cardenal Mendoza macerated oranges.

Who Should Dine Here?

Toledo is a beautiful place for couples to escape and enjoy a nice menu, with exceptional wine and cocktail options and spectacular views.  Most tables in this restaurant are designed for smaller parties of 2-4.  However, this is Walt Disney World and of course you can bring your family.  Toledo has a kid’s menu that includes steak, grilled chicken, sautéed shrimp, sustainable fish, and meatballs.  If you have a Disney dining plan, you may use 1 table service credit per person to dine at Toledo.
