My family and I had the opportunity to stay in a family suite at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. We had an amazing stay at this retro-styled resort, located at Universal Orlando. The room was spacious and inviting and the resort was a fun throwback to the 50s and 60s.
Cabana Bay is one of Universal Orlando’s on-site value resorts. A stay here includes resort wide charging privileges, early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter one hour prior to park opening, merchandise delivery, and bus service to City Walk. You can also take a 15-20 minute walk via a beautifully landscaped path to the parks as well. We took this walk at night and it was an easy and well lit pathway back to our resort room. The Thunderbird and Castaway buildings are closest to the walkway entrance.
The rooms are decorated with fun, bold colors and finishes with retro toiletries. Standard guest rooms come with two queen beds and you can choose between standard and pool views. Family Suites sleep 6 with two queen beds and a double sofa bed with kitchenette, closet area and a split bath with a dividing sliding door for privacy. You can view a video of the room here. Coming soon are two bedroom suites that will sleep 8, and some will have views of Universal’s new waterpark, Volcano Bay, that opens May 25th.
Bayliner Diner is a fun themed food court serving a variety of foods including a grab and go section and a section that has some options for stocking your mini-fridge with snacks and breakfast for your stay. The Hideaway Bar and Grill offers lunch and dinner options and adult beverages steps away from the lazy river. There are also two other bar areas so that adults can order a cocktail and unwind. Swizzlers is located in the hotel lobby and Atomic Tonic is located on the Cabana Courtyard pool deck. There is also a Starbucks located between the lobby and Bayliner Diner.
Galaxy Bowl restaurant is located in the retro bowling alley upstairs in the main building. Pizza delivery is also available with Delizioso Pizza. You can even have it delivered to your private Cabana by the pool. There are many resort restaurants on Universal property and Universal provides shuttle services every 30 minutes to your reservations from Cabana Bay from 6-10pm. Check with luggage services for shuttle schedule.
Pools and Fun
Cabana Bay has two large pool areas and a lazy river. The Cabana Bay Courtyard Pool has a water slide and white sand lounge areas as well as shaded picnic areas and a large fire pit. The pool was heated. Cabanas with televisions, fans, wifi, safe and fridge with bottled water are available to rent at the Cabana Bay Courtyard Pool.
The Lazy River courtyard and pool is located near Hideaway Grill and Bar with fire pits and plenty of lounge chairs for catching some Florida sunshine. Enjoy poolside activities, games, and movies too! Make sure to ask at check in to find out the schedule for pool parties, DJs and smores at the fire pits.
There is more fun inside! Galaxy Bowl bowling alley, GameoRama arcade, and Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio are located in the hotel lobby building. You can also shop at the Universal Studios Store in the lobby, and Friday evenings, some of your favorite characters may be found there.
Cabana Bay Beach Resort was the perfect stay for my family of five to enjoy Universal Orlando Resort. We were very happy and comfortable with our stay here and can’t wait to see the new suites coming to the resort. Cabana Bay will also be a short walk from Volcano Bay water park!
