Planning Your Park Days and How to Use Genie+

Sharing is caring!

When visiting Walt Disney World, it can be overwhelming to begin planning your park days and wondering how you will fit in everything that you want to accomplish.  So let’s talk about how to use Genie+ and how it can help you meet your park touring goals!

As you think about planning your park days, remember to have a plan, but not a schedule. You want flexibility and enjoyment over a rigid schedule and stress. The way to accomplish this is to have a general idea of which attractions are important to you and your family and make those a priority by visiting those attractions early morning, late night, or by scheduling a Lightning Lane window.

Each family is different, so be sure to speak to your Travel Counselor to get their thoughts on specific attractions as they may pertain to your travel party!

I have put together a general guideline for each park below based on the most popular attractions, and which attractions I feel would be worth using your Lightning Lane options toward.  This guide will teach you how to use Genie+ to make the most of your day!

A few reminders

  • Lightning Lane options CAN fill up. Prioritize your group’s top attractions and try to book those first.
  • If you have purchased Disney Genie+ service, you can select an arrival window for your first attraction via the My Disney Experience mobile app beginning at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit.
  • You can select additional Genie+ Lightning Lane attractions after one of these two things have happened:
    1. You have tapped in to the queue of your next scheduled Lightning Lane.
    2. It has been 120 minutes since you made your last Lightning Lane attraction. (An exception to this is if you made a reservation at 7am and the park doesn’t open until more than 2 hours later. You must then wait until 2 hours after park opening to make your next selection if you haven’t used one yet.)

How to use Genie+ PRO TIP

It is possible to hold more than one Genie+ Lightning Lane if the return time is more than 120 minutes from your last selection.

  • If you would like to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane Attraction, you can purchase up to two per day if park hopping. Pricing is per person and will vary by park and day. Guests of Disney Resort Hotels can make their first purchase starting at 7:00 AM on the day of their visit. All other guests can make their first purchase when the park opens.

How to use Genie+ PRO TIP

You can hold Genie+ Lightning Lane selection(s) and Individual Lightning Lane selections at the same time
